The Practice of Product Management

Whether innovation or an unpatentable simple product, products bring value to people and are meant to serve a purpose. Great products and low-grade products all need someone to manage the product. It is a rigorous job and not everyone is cut out for it. The world of product management is very diverse and differs from technology to SaaS, to manufacturing, but all product managers tackle similar issues and daily routines. In this article we’ll discuss a few differences and similarities of industry product managers, topics areas we’ll write about in the future, and why I’m so passionate about product management.

Product Management Topics

Product Management looks very straightforward for its title, and it is in many ways. You have a product and need someone to manage the process, which is true, but many things come along with building successful products that stay relevant and beat the competition in any market.

Below are the product management topics I’ll be discussing:

  • Ideation
  • Research & Discovery
  • Specifications
  • UI/UX
  • Product Build ad Test
  • Deployment
  • Agile, Waterfall and Product Lifecycle Management

That takes a diverse amount of skills to make each of those successful. Sometimes product managers have a UI Designer on their team, and sometimes not. And that is one of the areas where I need improvement. And writing about each of these will help me be a better product manager.

My Dreams Come True

While building things and learning the process with startup companies, I got creative and tried building a startup once before, and although it wasn’t successful, I learned a lot about product management. Additionally, soon, I’m building a new product, and this time, with more knowledge and discipline, it’ll be successful.

Thank you for taking the time to practice product management with me. I hope you derive value and take away concepts for your journey.
